Air Bag Filters

ACS Industries, Inc. is the world’s preeminent airbag filter manufacturer and the only one to offer all three preferred filter media: knitted wire mesh, expanded metal and wound-wire.  Used primarily to cool and remove particulate from the inflation gas flow, some designs also serve as propellant retainers.  These elements are critical to safe and effective airbag deployments.

In addition to recommending a filter media for a specific application, ACS' design and applications engineers also design all tooling and most required production equipment in-house.  With a fully staffed, in-house machine shop, our tooling lead times and costs are the most competitive in the industry.

Knitted Wire Mesh Filters

Our first generation airbag filters, these compressed wire mesh elements provide a random flow pattern and “tortuous path” entrainment filtration effect, assuring that heat and contaminants do not compromise airbags during inflation.

Rolled Filters

Developed for applications requiring a more uniform flow pattern and higher hoop strength, our second generation filters are made from expanded metal, woven-wire and ceramic paper components.  For certain applications, filters constructed from just expanded metal or woven wire are available.  Learn more about ACS Rolled Filters...

Wound-Wire Filters

Our third generation filter, wound-wire technology winds flat wire in a precise, computer controlled pattern and offers the most uniform gas flow and highest hoop strength of all three options.  Learn more about ACS Wound-Wire Filters...

Seatbelt Tensioner Filters

With many seatbelt manufactures applying pyrotechnic technologies to tensioning devices, knitted wire mesh, expanded metal and wound-wire filters have found new applications in other active restraint systems.
